FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Why do I need to provide documents to claim my listing?
To protect professionals and moms, we require proof of identity and business ownership. This ensures that only verified providers manage listings. This process follows the Privacy Act of 1974 and North Carolina professional licensing laws, which require that health and wellness providers are properly credentialed before advertising their services.
What if my business name and license name are different?
If your license or certificate is under a different name than your business listing, you may provide supporting documents (such as a business license, incorporation papers, or DBA/“Doing Business As” certificate). North Carolina law allows businesses to operate under registered trade names, as long as proper documentation is provided.
Am I legally required to verify my listing?
Yes, if you want to manage and advertise your professional services on Momkinz. Under Federal Trade Commission (FTC) truth-in-advertising laws and North Carolina Board of Medicine/Allied Health rules, it is unlawful to misrepresent your credentials or impersonate another provider. Verification protects you from misuse of your professional identity.
How will my documents be stored and used?
Your documents are encrypted and stored securely. They are used only for verification and are deleted after approval (if requested). Momkinz complies with the Privacy Act (5 U.S.C. § 552a) and North Carolina Identity Theft Protection Act (N.C. Gen. Stat. § 75-60 et seq.), which require businesses to safeguard personal identifying information.
What if I don’t have a state license but offer postpartum services (like doulas or coaches)?
You can still claim your listing by providing business registration documents (LLC, EIN, or local business license). In North Carolina, doulas and certain postpartum care providers are not regulated by a medical licensing board, but they must comply with general business licensing laws and FTC guidelines against misleading claims.
